Final Advert

This is my final advert for my fictional band 'The Hyde Syndrome' and their upcoming album 'Spring Heeled Jack'. I decided to settle on a colour palette primarily featuring black, to match genre conventions of the alternative rock genre, as the lyrical content often features darker connotations such as death, addiction and abuse. I also chose to use black and white to match the fictional character of British Folklore 'Spring Heeled Jack', who when in the Penny Dreadfuls, was depicted in black and white.

I chose this photo of Jack Waterman (costumed as Spring Heeled Jack) as it appears to be sinister and adds a creepy tone. It is also the front cover of my digipak, and using the front cover as the primary image of the advert is a convention of modern artists I chose to follow, however, I decided not to use my band in the advert in order to keep a creepy and eerie tone.

Setting Up For PhotoShoot

These are the photos of the setup for my digipak and advert photo shoot, in which we painted Jack Waterman as my character 'Spring Heeled Jack' and used the above props to create a creepy and unnerving atmosphere.

Music Video Inspirations

I have taken inspiration for the studio-style shots from the video 'Whatever Doesn't Kill Me' by Finger Eleven, among other videos such as 'Technicolour Trainwreck' by Speaking In Shadows.
I have decided to take inspiration from this video in particular as it is exclusively studio, and my video itself will have a heavy studio focus. The use of alternate lighting also an idea I have decided to adapt through the use of torches.

I also took inspiration from 'Tell Me I'm A Wreck' by Every Avenue and other videos of this variety (such as 'Dirty Little Secret' by All-American Rejects) who imbue the use of text confessions to convey the thoughts of the people featured in the video. I have manipulated the idea into the use of white shirts with the individual's lie(s) written on it, which will match with chorus ('Take off your clothes...').

Another inspiration came from the video 'Big Yellow Taxi' by Counting Crows, which focus on a broad spectrum of people with a large moral message, which I believe my song choice conveys. This video runs with a specific theme that affects a large amount of people, which I am going to attempt to emulate.

Rough Cut 1

Album Inspiration

For the album and advert, I decided to take influence from the League of Legends character Shaco, to bear similarity to the character of fiction 'Spring Heel'd Jack', as they are both demonic characters, and can be used to intimidate and instil fear.

Band Photo Shoot

This is the band that I am going to film performing my track, I decided to get some shots in an industrial looking area in order to capture the alternative rock style.

This is my draft advert for my fictional band's album launch. The image isn't original, however, I will replace it when I come do making the final piece.
