Question 1-Draft

In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

Script

*Filmed in the Radio Hartlepool station,  where Lee Theasby is conducting a false interview with me*

Lee: And that was the new hit song from The Hyde Syndrome-'Lies We Lead'. And with me today, is their art and video director, Alex Hooks, to talk to us about the video, which is all over the Kerrang! and Scuzz channels and has over 50 million hits on YouTube.

Me: Thank you for having me. I'm glad to be here!

Lee: That's good, well, we have a few questions here from our Twitter feed which I've collated for you.

Me: Oh right, excellent.

Lee: Yeah, we have one from Jason in Hereford says 'I'm a huge fan, but what makes the video different from other ones in the scene?'
(Subtitled underneath 'In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?')

Me: Well, we did try to make it different from other videos in the genre. The guys wanted a strong message in the video, with a great performance section.

Lee: Yeah, I see that in there.

Me: Well, going off what they wanted, I included a conceptual message through a symbolic narrative. It shows the singer's journey through a valley, where he encounters people who have been lying or dishonest, and as he progresses people begin to leave the valley, showing that they are leaving their lies behind and moving forward.
